When a person can no longer walk independently due to a decline in their physical condition, a comprehensive wheelchair is vitally important.  Our team will assess your individual needs and requirements, and ensure an optimum fit between the wheelchair user and their equipment.  Similar to buying a car, there are endless wheelchair options, and more features cost more money.  It can be difficult to know where to start.  We will help with recommending the right solutions for you, with cost effectiveness in mind.

Comprehensive Evaluation
Our therapists will thoroughly assess your current wheelchair and seating needs. They will evaluate your mobility, posture, comfort, and functional requirements

Customized Recommendations
Based on the evaluation, our team will develop a personalized plan. Recommendations will include customized wheelchair adjustments and seating solutions. These changes will be tailored to optimize your mobility, support, and comfort.

Coordinating Equipment Trials and Provision
We will work closely with you to schedule and oversee all necessary adjustments. Our team will coordinate with equipment vendors and providers as needed.

Supporting Your Independence
The end result will be a wheelchair and seating setup that enhances your mobility. You'll be able to safely navigate your environment and perform daily activities.

What is an Occupational Therapist?

Occupational therapists  work together with people who have a limited ability to carry out everyday activities because of illness, injury or disability.  Occupational therapists help people live independently.  They help clients meet goals to develop, recover, improve, and maintain skills needed for daily living, such as getting dressed, making a meal, using the toilet, moving around and much more.

How much does Be Able charge for services?

Face-to-face assessments, reports and non-face tasks: $135/hour + GST. Travel: charged at the hourly rate of $67.50/hour + GST. Reports and other non-face to face tasks: charged at the hourly rate. Ministry of Health funding may be available for equipment and modifications for eligible people, therefore the solutions recommended may come at no cost.

What are the wait times for an assessment?

We aim to meet the client for the initial assessment within 2 weeks but often much sooner!
